Anyone
who is familiar with African and African-American fine art in the Central
Florida area has heard the name Everett Spruill. Or perhaps you saw his
art while visiting Walt Disney World or Epcot during their Black Heritage
Celebrations. For more than 20 years Everett has been involved in
collecting, creating and distributing fine art. He currently conducts art
workshops for central Florida youth and is owner of Everett Spruill &
Associates, a fine art consulting firm, formally known as The Ethnic Art
Gallery, founded in 1989.
The trademark of Everett's work is the emotional and intuitive use of color. All his works express feelings through coloration and
the juxtaposition of stylized shapes. Everett's most recent jazz collages have been compared to work of the late Romare
Bearden. Everett is inspired to capture the essence of life itself -
spiritual symbols of love, the alternating forces of the universe and
man's relationship within.
