Romare Bearden
Romare Bearden
(1911-1988) was a preeminent artist of his generation, Romare Beard
lived and worked during a period of extraordinary ferment in
American society and American art. The diversity of his
oeuvre—including works in collage and photomontage; watercolor, oil,
and monotype; designs for the stage and book illustrations; and
edition prints—reflects the excitement and turmoil of his time.
Based on memories and experiences of the rural South, the urban
North, and the Caribbean, his subjects included folk and jazz
musicians, street scenes, domestic interiors, and landscapes.

"Up At Minton's" jigsaw puzzle
Up at
Minton’s, 1980, by Romare Bearden (1911–1988). Much of Romare Bearden’s
art is impelled by, and suffused with, music. The hot lights and cool
jazz of the paint-augmented collage Up at Minton’s are classic Bearden.
To the visual and tactile satisfactions of working a jigsaw puzzle, Up
at Minton’s adds the pleasure of imagining the sounds of this
horn-bass-piano trio in full stride.
Our 1,000-piece
interlocking jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning
and unusual images, and heirloom-quality construction to delight
generations of novice and veteran puzzle workers.

Romare Bearden
2009 - wall calendar
One of the twentieth century’s most creative and original artists,
Romare Bearden (American, 1911–1988) explored subject matter that
highlighted his interests in the humanities and his deep engagement with
African American life and culture. Best known as a master collagist,
Bearden often referenced classical, biblical, and mythological subjects
and scenes of contemporary life, capturing the people and places of the
rural South, the urban North, and the Caribbean. This calendar features
Circe’s Domain, Eden Midnight, Blue River—Martinique, and nine more of
his powerful images.
